Nkiru Nzegwu is SUNY Distinguished Professor of Africana Studies at Binghamton University, Nelson Mandela Visiting Professor for 2023-2024 at Rhodes University, Makanda, past Chair of the Board of SUNY Distinguished Academy, and Professor Extraordinarius in the School of Transdisciplinary Research and Graduate Studies at the University of South Africa, UNISA. She is a philosopher, painter, author, curator, and founder of the digital platform Africa Knowledge Project. Among her areas of expertise are African and African Diaspora art and aesthetics, philosophy, African feminist issues, digital publishing, AI and Big Data. She is the founder of Africa Knowledge Project and the founding coeditors of JENdA: A Journal of Culture and African Women Studies, West Africa Review, and Ijele: Art eJournal of the African World. She is author of Family Matters: Feminist Concepts in African Philosophy of Culture (2006), co-editor of The New African Diaspora (2009); and editor of Onitsha at the Millennium: Legacy, History and Transformation (2013) and His Majesty Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe: A Ten-Year Milestone (2013). She is currently completing a number of book-length manuscripts of which two are under contract.
